As FIL-TOMATO is my first event, i get so many new friends who came to know about the event late. So now, i have decided to extend the closing date to March 31st.

Some of my delights for you....
1. Bisebellabath:

This is my dear Grandpa's favourite. Whenever he comes home from native, he asks me to make this with lots of pearl onions and ghee. I'm dedicating this to him.
Ingredients:
1. Raw Rice - 11/2 cup,
2. Toor dal - 1 cup,
3. Pearl onions - 8,
4. Tomato - 1 big(chopped finely),
5. Curry leaves - 2 strings,
6. Bay leaves - 1,
7. Beans, Carrot, Green peas, brinjal, drumstick(Mixed cut) - 1 cup,
8. Tamarind juice - 1/4 cup,
9. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp,
10. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp,
11. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp,
12. Red dry chilly - 1,
13. Asefeotida powder - 1 tsp,
14. Salt - as per taste,
15. Cashews - 8,
16. Ghee - 1/4 cup,
17. Cilantro for garnish.
To roast and grind:

1. Red dry chillies - 3,
2. Black peppercorns - 1 tsp,
3. Coriander seeds - 2 tsp,
4. Poppy seeds - 1/2 tsp,
5. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp,
6. Methi seeds - 1/2 tsp,
7. Cinnamon stick - 1,
8. Cloves - 2.
How to make this?

1. In a pressure cooker add the cleaned rice, toor dal and turmeric powder and cook, mash and keep aside.
2. Cook the vegetables seperately and keep aside.
3. Add a tsp ghee in kadai, roast the cashews seperately and keep aside. Now add the ingredients given for grinding, roast & grind in to fine powder and keep aside.
4. In the same kadai, add enough ghee and add the mustard and cumin let them splutter. Add the onions, bay leaves, red chilly, curry leaves and saute a min.
5. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute till they get mashed. Add the cooked veggies, powdered spices and saute a min.
6. Add the tamarind juice, enough salt and boil till they get thick, and the raw smell goes.
7. Add the mashed dal-rice and mix well with the tamarind mix. Add the roasted cashews and the remaining ghee and mix well.
8. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot.
Tastes great with onion raita and appalam/papadam.
2. Wheat dosa and tomato thokku.

Ingredients:
1. Wheat flour - 1 cup,
2. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp,
3. Salt - as per taste.
How to make this?
In a bowl, combine flour, cumin, salt and enough water to get a dosa batter. Heat a tawa/griddle and pour a scoop of batter and make in to circular dosas and cook both sides by sprinkling oil on the sides. When the dosa gets golden brown dots on both sides take it and serve.

3. Crispy Dosa and dosa-idli sambar:

Dosa ingredients:
1. Idli rice - 4 cups,
2. Urad dal - 1 cup,
3. Methi/Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp,
4. Salt - 3 tsp.
How to make this?
1. Soak the rice, urad dal, methi seeds in water for 3 hours. Grind in to a fine batter and mix the salt well. Leave to ferment overnight.
2. Heat a griddle, grease a spoon of oil and pour a scoop of the batter and make in to circular dosas and cook both sides.
Dosa - idli Sambar:
Ingredients:
1. Toor dal - 1 cup,
2. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp,
3. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp,
4. Urad dal - 1 tsp,
5. Pearl onions - 8,
6. Asefeotida - 1 tsp,
7. Green chilly - 1 (Slit lengthwise),
8. Tomato - 1 chopped finely,
9. Curry leaves - 1 string,
10. Tamarind juice - 1/4 cup,
11. Salt - as per needed,
12. Cilantro for garnish.
13. Idli-sambar podi - 3 tsp/ as needed
,14. Oil - as per needed.
How to make this:

1. Pressure cook the dal with turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp asefeotida and mash.
2. Heat oil in kadai, splutter the mustard and cumin seeds, asefeotida and then add the onions, curry leaves, green chilly and saute for 2mins.
3. Add the tomatoes, and saute well. Add the dosa-idli podi and saute till the raw smell goes.
4. Add the mashed dal, salt, tamarind juice and enough water. Leave for boil till it thickens and adjust taste.
Tastes great with gingerly oil/ ghee ..!
